Searching for just the spot to go for a holiday-light tour this weekend?
Look no further than Berrien Springs.
The village is in full Christmas spirit this year, with both the downtown businesses and residential neighborhoods boosting an impressive display of light and color. With Berrien Springs’ historic architecture and quaint, walkable small-town feel, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to an old-fashioned Christmas village from a bygone era.
“The Christmas decorations are better than ever this year,” said Village President Jesse Hibler. “Adding the residential decorating contest really brought up the level of participation, and the downtown businesses created some fantastic window displays, too. The whole village feels festive.”
“I was truly amazed at how many homes are decorated,” agreed Kelly Ewalt, Community Development Coordinator for the Village of Berrien Springs. “I can’t remember there ever being so many before.”
First-, second- and third place winners for the contest, with the theme Christmas Wonderland, were chosen on Harrison, Cass, and Kimmel Streets, and the residents were presented with gift baskets with items from many Village businesses. Other contest entrants can be found on S. Mechanic, N. Main, S. Main, Michigan Ave and N. Bluff Streets.
Don’t stop at the neighborhoods, though – Berrien Springs’ downtown also boasts an impressive array of holiday decorations, following the theme of The Nativity.
And no holiday light tour in Berrien Springs would be complete without checking out the lit-up gazebos, the Christmas Tree in Memorial Park, and the ice sculptures downtown.
So grab a mug of hot cocoa, head to Berrien Springs, and drive – or walk! – around the downtown and neighborhoods for the ultimate Holiday Light Tour.
Once you discover how much the village has embraced the Christmas spirit, it’s sure to become a part of your holiday traditions for years to come.
