What’s your favorite part of the Berrien County Youth Fair? Is it the rides? The commercial buildings? The cute baby animals? Or…the FOOD? If you’ve been craving corn dogs, cotton candy, caramel apples and the other delights you usually wouldn’t be able to sample until August, you’re in luck: the second Fair Food Drive-Thru is just days away.

Sadly, restrictions due to COVID-19 forced the BCYF to postpone their 75th Anniversary celebration and most of the in-person fair experience to 2021. But quick, ingenious thinking – possibly blended with a passionate love of deep-fried treats and foods on sticks – led to the first Fair Food Drive-Thru back in June, and it was such a success that there will be another three-day extravaganza of crispy, crunchy, sweet and salty delights held this weekend.

The second Berrien County Youth Fair Food Drive-Thru will be Friday, July 17 from 11 am to 7 pm, July 18 from 11 am to 7 pm, and July 19, from 11 am to 4 pm. Featured vendors include Wiley’s Famous Tacos, The Pretzel Wagon, Rosie’s Sweet Shack, Colglazier’s Elephant Ears, Colglazier’s Steak Tips, Barbie’s Cookies, Wagner’s Ice Cream, Fiske French Fries & Lemonade, and Bubble Tea.

Here’s how it works: Enter at Gate 3 (4261 Shawnee Rd.) and stay in your vehicle – no walk-up orders allowed. After you’ve ordered and received your food, you must exit the grounds – no eating on-site. No pets, no public restrooms, and no smoking!

And, be sure to bring cash! The Drive-Thru won’t accept debit or credit cards; cash only please.

It’s not quite the same as the full fair experience, but kudos to the team at BCYF for giving us all a “taste” of one of the best parts. Stay tuned to the Berrien County Youth Fair’s 75th Anniversary Page for updates about what to expect when the Fair returns in 2021.
